Tongue-Tie & Lip-Tie Release.

Gentle, in-clinic assessment and release (frenotomy) for infants and children. Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) is restricted tongue movement caused by a tight band of tissue beneath the tongue. Not every tongue-tie needs treatment: Dr Suran carefully assesses whether it is clinically significant before recommending anything.

  • Assessment: tongue-tie & upper lip-tie
  • Frenotomy: gentle release for feeding issues
  • Aftercare: risks & care explained to parents

Frequently Asked
Questions.

General Skin Checks
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No. You can book directly with the clinic without a referral.

Who will perform my skin check?

All appointments are performed by Dr Suran Rajapakse, ensuring continuity of care and consistent monitoring over time.

How often should I have a skin check?

The recommended frequency depends on your individual risk factors, including your skin type, sun exposure history, personal or family history of skin cancer, and the number of moles you have. Dr Rajapakse will recommend an appropriate follow-up schedule.

What happens during a skin cancer check?

A comprehensive skin examination is performed using dermoscopy, a specialised imaging technique that allows detailed assessment of moles and skin lesions.

Are Medicare rebates available?

Medicare rebates may be available for eligible consultations and procedures. Our team can provide further information when booking.

FotoFinder ATBM® Total Body Mapping
What is FotoFinder ATBM® Total Body Mapping?

FotoFinder ATBM® (Automated Total Body Mapping) is an advanced imaging system that photographs most of the skin surface and assists with ongoing monitoring of moles and skin lesions over time.

Who is Total Body Mapping recommended for?

It is particularly useful for patients who:

  • Have many moles
  • Have atypical or unusual-looking moles
  • Have a personal history of melanoma
  • Have a strong family history of melanoma
  • Are considered at increased risk of skin cancer
Does Total Body Mapping replace a skin check?

No. Total Body Mapping is an additional surveillance tool and does not replace a clinical examination by a doctor.

How long does the Total Body Mapping appointment take?

The initial appointment generally takes longer than a standard skin check because photographs are taken and reviewed. Follow-up appointments are usually shorter.

Will all of my skin be photographed?

The system captures photographs of most of the skin surface to assist with ongoing monitoring.

How often should Total Body Mapping be repeated?

This varies depending on your risk profile and clinical findings. Dr Rajapakse will recommend an appropriate surveillance schedule.

Skin Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment
Can skin cancers be treated at the clinic?

Many skin cancers can be diagnosed and treated within the clinic, including surgical excision and other appropriate treatment options.

What happens if a suspicious lesion is found?

Depending on the clinical assessment, Dr Rajapakse may recommend monitoring, biopsy, removal, or referral for further specialist management.

Do you perform skin cancer surgery?

Yes. A range of skin cancer surgical procedures are performed in the clinic.

Will I receive pathology results?

Yes. All pathology results are reviewed by Dr Rajapakse and communicated to patients with appropriate follow-up recommendations.

K-Laser® Treatments
What is K-Laser® therapy?

K-Laser® uses therapeutic laser technology to support tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and assist with selected dermatological and procedural treatments.

What skin conditions may be suitable for K-Laser® treatment?

Suitability varies between individuals. During a consultation, Dr Rajapakse will assess whether laser treatment may be appropriate for your condition.

Is laser treatment painful?

Most patients tolerate laser treatment very well, with many describing a gentle warming or tingling sensation during treatment. However, comfort levels vary depending on the type of procedure, the area being treated, and individual sensitivity.

For some treatments, particularly lesion removal, resurfacing procedures, or higher-energy laser applications, a topical anaesthetic cream or local anaesthetic injection may be recommended to improve comfort.

Dr Rajapakse will discuss the expected level of discomfort and any anaesthetic options during your consultation before treatment.

How many laser treatments will I need?

The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated and individual response to treatment.

Benign Lesion Removal
Can benign lesions be removed?

Yes. Many benign lesions such as seborrhoeic keratoses, skin tags, and selected benign growths may be suitable for treatment after clinical assessment.

Will every lesion need a biopsy?

Not necessarily. The management plan depends on the clinical assessment and level of concern for skin cancer.

Will there be a scar?

Any skin procedure carries the possibility of scarring. Dr Rajapakse will discuss expected outcomes and treatment options during your consultation.

Booking & Appointments
What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your Medicare card, any relevant referral letters, previous skin cancer history, and details of any medications you are taking.

Should I remove makeup before my skin check?

Yes. For the most accurate assessment, please attend without makeup, sunscreen, moisturiser, or other skin products. If you have concerns under your fingernails or toenails, please remove any nail polish beforehand. Artificial tanning products can affect skin assessment and are best avoided for several weeks before your appointment where possible.

What should I wear for a skin check?

Comfortable clothing that can be easily removed or adjusted for examination is recommended.

Can I book online?

Yes. Online booking is available through our website.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please contact the clinic as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment so it can be offered to another patient. Cancellations made within 2 hours of the appointment time, or failure to attend, may incur a non-attendance (DNA) fee.
